Advanced reservations are always advised. Provisional bookings may be made by
telephone, however a deposit is required to secure bookings.
We endeavour to run activities as strictly to schedule as is possible and therefore appreciate prompt arrival. We reserve the right to cancel without refund in the event of late arrival by participants or expired event date.
Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels Ltd reserve the right to cancel or offer an alternative activity or date if we consider any of the courses to be too dangerous or impractical due to adversities etc.
Discounted prices are valid only for full payment before any events.
Active Sports /Adventure On Wheels Vouchers are only valid for a limited period after purchase, normally no more than 6 months after purchase. (see back of voucher for more information)
All pre paid events such as motorcycle tours/training etc may be valid up to one year subject to availability, however if the client has not partaken in the booked event (such as a tour) within one year of booking, the booking will be deemed spent and no refund will be given. It is company policy only to refund any remaining fees that have not been used if we Active Sports/Adventure on Wheels cancel your event subject to our health and safety policy section. Should the client cancel the event then no refund will be given.

discretion of the A.S./Adventure On Wheels staff/management for any reason of safety etc.
In the event of non-compliance with A.S./Adventure
On Wheels Instructors,
activities will be terminated without refund.

On Wheels activities are run to the highest
possible standards. All participants should/must recognise that all outdoor
pursuits involve a higher than average risk of danger. Participation in our
activities is on the understanding that participants accept this risk.
Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels does not hold personal accident insurance on behalf of its clients; anyone concerned about personal accident insurance should seek cover from their own insurance company.
Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels clients are liable for all loss or damages caused by them, directly or indirectly, to any equipment, property, protective clothing, either hired or loaned to them for use during any course, activity or tour organised by Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels.

Child Protection Policy
Aim of the Policy
Our aim is to create an environment in which the young client (child) and their parent(s), guardian, responsible adult, carer, closest relative, can feel confident that Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels is providing a safe and wholesome setting for all participants in our activities.
As an activity company, we can support and offer advice to our clients and staff in order to protect them from neglect, exploitation and abuse.
All suspicions and allegations of abuse against young clients will be responded to, and followed up appropriately in accordance with this policy and local Area Child Protection Policy guidelines and procedures.
1.All persons under the age of 18 years are children for the purpose of this policy.
2.All children, regardless of their gender, racial origin, culture, ability, religious believe and sexual orientation have the right to protection from abuse.
3.All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to by the Company Advisor or Chief Instructor, who will refer the matter to the Social Services child protection department in whose area the incident or suspicion occurred.
Code of Practice for People Working for Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels ltd With Children
·All persons under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, responsible adult, carer, closest relative for all Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels Ltd. activities.
·Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels ltd staff must avoid situations when they and an individual child are alone.
·Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels ltd staff should try to avoid physical contact as best they can, although it is recognised that a great deal of activity teaching cannot be effective without assistance to safely experience the skill/application required for the particular activity.
·Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels ltd staff should never over criticise young clients, or use language or actions which may cause children to lose self-esteem or confidence.
·As an Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels staff member you should not take unrelated children to their or any other person’s home.
·Permission must be obtained from the child’s parent or guardian for any vehicular journeys. A further staff member or adult must also be present. It is sensible to seat any child in the rear of the vehicle, wearing suitable restraints.
·Although normal instructor/client relationships are expected to remain confidential, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in conversations on child protection matters. Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels ltd staff and adults must not give children a promise or expectation of confidentiality in matters relating to this policy.
Actions to be Taken by the Company Advisor or Chief Instructor
It is important that when a child gives information which may lead to a child protection concern, the Company Advisor/Chief Instructor will undertake the following, preferably with the child’s parent or guardian in attendance unless the concern is about them, or there are other good reasons not to do so (eg. unavoidable delay), in which case another adult should be in attendance.
1.Advise the child that you will not be able to maintain confidentiality
2.Listen to the child rather than question him/her
3.Never stop a child who is freely recalling significant events
4.Make a note of what is said, taking care to record the time, date, setting and people present.
5.Any person with a suspicion or allegation of child abuse shall report the matter to the Company Advisor/Chief Instructor as soon as possible.
6.The person reporting the suspicions or making allegations must be prepared to speak to the Social Services to clarify their concerns.
7.Any person suspected of abusing a child should not be approached by any Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels ltd staff concerning the abuse issue.
8.Other Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels staff should deal with matters if the person who would otherwise deal with the matter is compromised by a relationship of friendship with the person against whom the suspicion has emerged.
9.Any child, parent or person should be encouraged to contact the Social Services or the local police directly, having referred the matter to the Company Advisor/Chief Instructor.
10.Any member of Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels staff who has been accused of abusing a child will be suspended by Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels ltd “without prejudice” pending the investigation.
Definitions of Child Abuse
·Physical Abuse: Occasions when adults or other children deliberately inflict injuries upon a child, or knowingly do not prevent such injuries, other than normal activity participation. This could include the nature or intensity of training or instruction, offering alcohol or drugs.
·Emotional Abuse: Where adults or other children fail to show due care or attention or threaten, use sarcasm, taunt or shout at a child causing them to lose confidence, self-esteem and become nervous or withdrawn.
·Neglect: Where Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels staff fail to provide help and care to the child. This also includes leaving a child without proper supervision or placing the child at risk of injury while under activity instruction.
·Sexual Abuse: Where adults or children use children to fulfil their sexual needs.
Active Sports/Adventure On Wheels staff may be placed in a position of trust by the child who may feel able to disclose incidents which have occurred at school or at home. These must be taken seriously and referred immediately to the Social Services child protection department. It may not be safe for the child to return home.
